This page article shares an example for incorporating Flip into an online course when linking to Flip with a URL without using the Flip integration (LTI). These instructions are provided as examples only. They are not meant to address every potential scenario. Feel free to use them as a guide and edit them for your own course needs. If your course is a part of a fully online program, please refer to the program specifications and activity directions.

Assumptions When Using Flip Linking Approach

  1. Go to Flip. Use (or create) a Login with your Boise State instructor account.

  2. Click Create a Group and name it for your course. (Example: Introduction to Learning)

    1. In the “Permissions” section, click Student Email, then add “@u.boisestate.edu” and “boisestate.edu” in the space provided.

    2. Save the group.

  3. Create a Topic named [Assignment Name].

    1. In the “Prompt” area enter, “See Canvas instructions,”

    2. In “Essentials” adjust the recording time to your preference.

    3. Click Create Topic to save, then close the pop-up window.

    4. Repeat this step for each Flip activity in the course.

  1. Create an outline of talking points that address the following prompts in 2-3 minutes:

  2. Go to [Name of Activity, such as 1.01 Introduce Yourself in Flip].

  3. Log in with your Boise State Gmail account. Click Add Response. You will have up to 3 minutes for your video.

  4. Start and Stop your recording using the icons at the bottom of the video window. When you are done with your recording, click Next.

  5. Edit your recording if needed, or just click Next again to continue.

  6. Feel free to provide an optional caption and click Post to Topic to complete the submission.
