What is Confluence?

Confluence can be a “central hub” for a team and for working across teams.

  • Create information (pages, how-to materials, brainstorming, project planning)

  • Store information (resources you can organize to make them easier to find)

  • Share information (collaborate across team, share projects, give & receive feedback)

3 Main ways to use Confluence

  • Manage knowledge 

    • Source of truth for important information document policy, practices & procedures

    • How-to-guides and tutorials

    • Communicate changes in services or products

  • Collaborate on projects 

    • Manage projects, Launch initiatives, Roll out features/services

    • Can refine documentation and plans together in one place

  • Engage with employees 

    • Intranet for team member communication

    • Celebration space

    • Blog posts for information sharing (ex: conference transfer of knowledge)

Confluence can help you to:

  • Communicate and socialize your ideas

  • Find essential resources you need to do your job

  • Brainstorm and document ideas

  • Give and receive feedback with teammates in real-time.

  • Stay in he loop on your team’s work. (leadership could potentially see progress on tactics.  Tactic leaders could share updates on status of tactics.)

Working in Confluence

Types of spaces:

  • Team space (*most popular): A space organized by team, like 'Marketing Team.' This helps a team contain pages related to their team only

  • Project space (*most popular): A space organized around a particular project, like 'Q1 Engagement Campaign.' This helps contain pages related to a specific project.

  • Documentation space: A space to create and organize technical documentation for your products or services.

  • Knowledge base space: A space to store answers to common questions, such as policies and IT solutions.

  • Personal space: A space just for you! You can use a personal space to write down ideas, organize notes, keep track of goals, or document anything else you'd like.
