Potential Applications for Course Design & Development

PROs / CONs Flip LTI Assignments

The following lists are potential pros, cons, and recommendations as discussed and/or discovered in the process of course development for a specific course design and development project. Different projects/ faculty will likely have varying views on what counts as a pro or a con.

PROs

  • Flip and Canvas instructions live in one place

    • Students can access the topic for a first recorded response, or select any peers who have already posted—watch their video and, in turn, reply with a video

    • Students do not require a Flip account

  • Grading column automatically created in Grades

CONs

  • Rubrics associated with the assignment in Canvas may not copy over or function as expected in a teaching shell.

  • Speedgrader appears to provide access to only one (the first) post/reply rather than all student contributions

  • Teaching faculty must add the Flip app upon receiving their teaching site

  • Teaching faculty must edit the settings for each Flip LTI assignment in the course
