Panopto and the CDD Process
The following article will help IDCs and Faculty streamline the process of creating videos at Boise State for online courses.
When to Start Discussing Panopto
Once the Blueprint for the course has been created, the Creative Brief > Deliverables section can be updated with videos faculty wants to create for their course.
Recording Options
The following highlights use cases for different recording options
1. Self-Recordings
presentations and screen sharing
unable to visit the campus
no travel or scheduling needed
all that’s required is a computer, webcam and mic
2. Studio Recordings
suitable for videos without PowerPoint slides or screen capture
technical aspects handled by professionals
access to professional equipment including teleprompter
If choosing the "Studio" option, share the scheduling link for the 3-Hr eCampusVideo Film Session. If a teleprompter is preferred, submit the script three days prior to the film session.
Getting Started with Panopto
Share this https://boisestateecampus.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/createpage.action?spaceKey=JFS&title=Panopto article with faculty before week 3 to address any arising issues or questions. The article covers crucial steps like logging in, creating a Panopto course folder, sharing the folder with eCampusVideo, and recording in a browser.
Creative Brief
Highlight the Creative Brief at the end of the Blueprint and instruct faculty developers to add their recorded videos to the ‘Media Deliverables’ table. For each video include title, location, and notes for MMD. Additional resources can be found at the bottom
Advise faculty developers:
complete a single recording for each video
add edit requests to the notes column of the Creative Brief
What Happens to Panopto Videos?
Once recorded videos are submitted to the Media Deliverables Table, an MMD will handle processing, captioning, etc. Videos will be moved to the eCampusVideo Panopto folder, so no alarm is needed if they disappear from personal Panopto course folders. If future access is required, contact eCampusVideo.
