The Creative Brief is a document used to keep track of multimedia deliverables for each course. Instructors and multimedia developers (MMDs) can work with this document directly to more easily and efficiently communicate information specific to multimedia for courses, defining the what, where, and when on any items MMDs are helping with. This document is also a useful reference for future requests.

Who Uses the Creative Brief?

MMDs primarily and instructors will be the ones providing information in this document. Other Development Team members will also be able to access and contribute as needed.

Benefits of the Creative Brief

  • Easier communication for all parties involved

  • List of all course media deliverables in one location

  • Succinct record of expectations

  • Reference for questions like:

    • What should the title of videos be and where do they belong in the course?

    • I had media items created for a course X years ago, can you help locate them for a new course?

    • Where are the Panopto links to this course?

    • How many media assets were created for a course and how long did it take?

Creative Brief and the Blueprint

Much like Blueprint documents, a Creative Brief will be used to manage media-specific content. Any information received outside of this doc relevant to course media will be added to the Creative Brief by MMD for reference. As of February 2022, Creative Briefs are kept alongside Blueprints under CDD projects > Program > Course for every CDD project needing multimedia content for a course.

MMDs will tag items within the Creative Brief just like a course Blueprint when additional information or action is needed from instructors on multimedia for the course.
