Job Summary

This position works alongside multimedia developers at Boise State’s eCampus Center to conceptualize, process, and produce a variety of multimedia for online courses.

Department Overview

Working within the Division of Extended Studies, Boise State’s eCampus Center is dedicated to expanding online degrees and classes beyond the traditional boundaries to meet the academic needs of students anytime and anywhere. We partner with faculty, departments, and leadership to create a high-quality online learning environment for students at Boise State and around the world. This position will contribute to creating high-quality media for online courses and fully online programs.

Job Details

Multimedia Student Assistants work independently with general supervision and exercise judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. Work can be a combination of remote and in-person. A computer and internet connection is required when working remotely. A workspace is available for student workers in the Extended Studies offices located at the Ron and Linda Yanke Family Research Park, 220 Parkcenter Boulevard Boise, ID 83706.

Working Hours and Pay:

Scheduled hours can be flexible to accommodate class schedules but need to be between the hours of Monday—Friday, 8:00 a.m.—6:00 p.m. Students may work up to 29 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours during the summer starting at a rate of $14 per hour.

Essential functions include:

  • Apply visual design best practice principles to the design and development of static and interactive elements (graphics, videos, animations, interactive simulations, etc.), while maintaining university branding/graphics standards

  • Manage multiple, simultaneous projects to reach targets on schedule

  • Understands and maintains branding identity for programs

  • Creates multimedia content for a variety of media platforms

  • Record, edit, and export videos

  • Perform usability testing and quality assurance of media elements used across platforms

  • Ensure media is accessible for all users, including those with disabilities

  • Provide initial conception (storyboarding, etc.) for media development

  • Develop layout and concept designs for approvals

  • Collaborate closely with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external, on all aspects of projects, including planning, content production, and content corrections

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possesses graphic design, typography, video, and multimedia development skills

  • Willingly, effectively, and proactively communicate and collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and stakeholders

  • Familiar with current digital best practices and ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies

  • Ability to provide effective customer service, actively listen, and appropriately respond to colleague, stakeholder, and supervisor requests

  • Facilitates diverse, inclusive, and culturally sensitive working and learning environments to serve global audiences

Additional Job Duties:

  • Research new creative tools and techniques to improve the student experience

  • Build a portfolio of innovative media elements for instructional designers to reference

  • Thinking outside the box and finding new or better ways to solve problems more effectively

  • Willingness to give and receive critical feedback with an open mind

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in filmmaking and graphic design

  • Working knowledge of Adobe CC, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with professional camera equipment, lighting, audio, and green screening techniques

  • Proficient with Canon camera systems

  • Experience working in Canvas (LMS)

  • Experience building educational games or interactives using H5P, Captivate, etc.

  • Experience using QuickBase project management system (PMS)

  • Understanding of HTML5/CSS3 development

  • Knowledge in 3D, AR/VR, or animation
